In this live video conference held in March 2015, FSS President Susan Mokelke describes Michael Harner's Three Year Program of Advanced Initiations in Shamanism and Shamanic Healing. This course is the most advanced training in shamanism and shamanic healing offered by the Foundation. It is widely considered as unparalleled in the world. It involves intensive extended training in progressively higher levels of very advanced shamanism, including initiations into rare and little-known practices and principles.

Michael Harner Honored as a Pioneer in Integrative Medicine

Every year the Institute for Health & Healing honors an international expert whose work is furthering the field of integrative medicine. On Sunday, March 8, 2009, at a dinner ceremony in San Francisco, the Institute honored Michael Harner as one of the world's foremost authorities on indigenous healing practices and their relevance in contemporary times. The Institute for Health & Healing is part of the Sutter Health community of medical centers.

Baniwa Shamanic Revitalization - Inauguration of the Shaman's House

The Foundation for Shamanic Studies is honored to support the Baniwa Shamanic Revitalization, which includes the filming and creation of a documentary record of snuff-jaguar shaman "Mandu" Manuel da Silva's practice and knowledge; organizing meetings to discuss aspects of indigenous culture and shamanic traditions; and the construction of a Shamans' House (now complete), which will serve as a catalyst for activities to strengthen and revitalize indigenous culture of the Baniwa people of the Aiary River.

Living Treasures of Shamanism

The three pillars of the Foundation include teaching, researching, and preserving shamanic knowledge. These aspects of Foundations work are carried out through the workshops and advanced training programs, the Living Treasures of Shamanism and Indigenous Assistance, and the Shamanic Knowledge Conservatory.

Drums of the Ancestors: Manchu and Mongol Shamanism

This remarkable and unique documentary filmed in 1995 in North China and Inner Mongolia during a field study by The Foundation for Shamanic Studies, offers a rare opportunity to experience the living traditions of shamanism as practiced by the Manchu and Mongol peoples. The film includes an ancient harvest festival, a ceremony for healing, and interviews with shamans.
